In order to be effective when working remotely, it's important to manage your wellbeing. When there are fewer boundaries between your personal and professional space, this can result in anxiety and stress - which makes it difficult to stop working.

Here's how you can set healthy boundaries.

🧘 Establish a morning routine

It's natural to feel an urgency to wake up and start working immediately.

But it's important to create a strong foundation for a productive day by grounding yourself first. This could be meditation, physical movement, drinking a glass of water, or writing in a journal.

What's one habit you could start before work this week?

😴 Don’t be available all of the time

Specify clear boundaries around when you're working and how quickly you'll respond to messages. Then communicate these to your team.

Log your working hours in a shared calendar, and set reminders when you should be wrapping up for the day.

Take a look at your working hours on Slack or Microsoft Teams and then your calendar. Is there anything you need to adjust?

🗓️ Schedule deep work

Constantly getting sidetracked by notifications?

To protect your wellbeing and focus:

  1. Block time in your calendar to focus on nothing but your most important tasks.
  2. Announce beforehand that you're about to go offline, when you'll be back online, and offer to answer any questions.
  3. Update your status to proactively indicate that you’re unavailable.
