Create connections between your team's projects and the bigger vision.

To keep your vision as a north star for your work, you and your team have to get into the habit of using Vision Links.
A Vision Link is a clear, explicit connection between a project or decision and the big picture vision.
Here's how to do it:
When you explain major decisions, preface them with the following framework:
Because we want to achieve insert goal, we’ve decided to insert decision...
For example: "Because we want to reduce our customer churn, we've decided to focus our growth and customer success team on retention initiatives this month."
When a team member tells you about a project they’re working on - either in a standup or 1:1 - ask them:
“Can you quickly explain how this will help us achieve our vision?”
Make sure your team clearly documents their Vision Links before starting work on any new projects.
You can even set up the "Because we want...we decided to..." template in your project management tool and kickoff meeting agenda to that it's top of mind when starting out.
